Petra is the Chairperson of EIOPA and has been leadingthe Authority sinceSeptember 2021,following her appointment by the European Council on2 7May2021 after confirmation by the European Parliament on 18May 2021.As Chairperson of EIOPA Petra is member of the Joint Committee, the DORA Oversight Forum and the ESRB Steering Committee and General Board.

Petra was appointed Vice Chair of the IAIS Executive Committee in December 2024. Besides that, she is the Champion of the IAIS Fintech Forum.

Prior to this role Petra was Division Director of Insurance Supervision at De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB, the Dutch Central Bank) as well as Alternate Member of the EIOPA Board and Chair of the EIOPA Policy Committee. Petra joined DNB in February 2007 as a policy advisor, contributing to the development of Solvency II. In 2013 she became Head Insurance Policy and in 2015 she was appointed as Head of the DNB Expert Centre for Fit C Proper assessments. In February 2017 Petra started as Director of Payments and Market. Prior to joining the Dutch Central Bank fulfilled several roles working in Central Asia.

Petra has a European Masters in Law C Economics and a Masters in Russian Studies. She is married and proud mother of three children.

Efthimios Bakogiannis is a Greek Urban Planner and Transportation Engineer, Associate Professor at the National Technical University of Athens. He is currently the Secretary General of Spatial Planning and Urban Environment of the Ministry of Environment and Energy.

He studied Agricultural and Surveying Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens and completed his doctoral thesis in the field of Combined Urban and Traffic Planning. His field of study is “Urban Planning with an emphasis on Sustainable Mobility policies”.

He has participated in numerous studies and research programs funded by the EU or national funds (Ministry – Municipalities) in more than 50 Organizations.

He has served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Athens Urban Transport Organization and President of the Organization’s Technical Council, President of the Metropolitan Agency for the Regeneration and Management of Protected Areas of Attica, Director of the Minister of Productive Reconstruction and member of Local Government bodies.

Mr. Stavros Konstantas has a Bachelor Degree in Mathematics from the University of Athens and has successfully completed postgraduate studies in Mathematics in the University of Athens and he is since 1994 Certified Actuary and Fellow of the Hellenic Actuarial Society. He has 35 years of experience in the Insurance sector serving multiple positions. He has held Senior Executive positions in multinationals and Greek Insurance Companies domiciled in Greece in positions such as : Chief Actuary, Operations Manager, CFO, COO, Chief Bank assurance Officer and CEO. He has been appointed as Chairman and Member of the BoD of Subsidiaries of Companies he has been employed in Greece and abroad ( Cyprus, Romania, Bulgaria ) and in institutional bodies of the Insurance sector as the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies, the Hellenic Institute of Insurance Studies and Hellenic Actuarial Society. As from 1.1.2023 with a decision of the General Council of the Bank of Greece, he has been appointed Director of Directorate of Private Insurance Supervision and as from 1.1.2025 Director of Directorate of Occupational and Private Insurance Supervision. He is a Voting member of the BoS of EIOPA and member of the Risk and Financial Stability Committee of EIOPA and member of Digital Finance Steering Committee of EIOPA.

Elizabeth Sellwood serves as Senior Advisor at the United Nations Environment Programme, leading efforts to address environmental risks and advance resilience in complex settings, including those affected by conflicts. She previously served in UN peacekeeping, political and humanitarian operations in the Middle East and Cyprus, and held research and analytical roles at Chatham House, the UK Parliament, New York University, and the University of Cambridge.

Sabine-Marie joined the Munich Re Group in 2005 as a Project Manager. She has led strategy and organizational assignments across all of the group’s business areas, including insurance, reinsurance, and asset management. From 2017, Sabine-Marie joined Munich Re’s central innovation unit, where she notably established the InsurTech Hub Munich, the innovation platform for insurance and later became responsible for the climate innovation strategy. Previously, she worked as a Consultant and Project Manager at the Boston Consulting Group in France from 1996, and subsequently in Germany. 

Sabine-Marie is Franco-German. She holds a Political Sciences degree from Sciences Po Paris, a Master of Science in Finance from the London School of Economics, and a Master in Strategic Management from HEC Paris. 

 

Nicholas Gavrilis was born in Athens in 1977. He became involved in the insurance sector from a young age through his family’s insurance intermediation business. He studied and worked in the United Kingdom and holds a degree in Business Administration.

He is the Chief Executive Officer of Globalis Insurance Brokers S.A., one of the largest independent insurance brokerage firms in Greece, specializing in the coverage of large-scale engineering and construction projects. He is married and has two children.

Christos Zerefos is the Head of the Research Center for Atmospheric Physics and Climatology of the Academy of Athens and the Climate Envoy for Greece.

He is the President of the Board of Directors of the International Community (Koinon) of Academies. He has served as a professor at top universities in Greece and abroad. He has been honored as an Honorary Professor of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Professor Emeritus of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as well as an Honorary Doctor of the University of Patras, Democritus University of Thrace, and the American College ANATOLIA.

He is a Member of the Academy of Athens, the Academia Europaea, the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, the European Academy of Sciences, the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, and many other academies and scientific institutions. He has supervised 55 master’s theses and more than 30 doctoral dissertations. He has founded eight (8) major research and educational centers and published over 300 scientific papers, contributing to understanding ozone variation, ultraviolet radiation, and the interaction between climate and the atmosphere.

He has coordinated or participated in more than 60 prestigious research projects, primarily funded internationally, collaborating with leading scientists worldwide. He has been honored with top distinctions, such as the Commander of the Order of Honor by the President of the Hellenic Republic and the Commander of the Order of Academic Palms by the French Government. He has received the Global Ozone Award, among the highest distinctions in his field, from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and multiple Honorable Mentions from the same program. He has also been awarded by the American Geophysical Union and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for his contribution to reports up to 2007.

He served as President of the International Ozone Commission, President of the National Observatory of Athens and Secretary-General of the Academy of Athens. He is the Coordinator of the Committee for the Study of the Impacts of Climate Change (EMEKA) of the Bank of Greece.

Dimitris Papastergiou was born in 1973 in Trikala.

He graduated from the Polycladic Lyceum of Trikala and the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NTUA (National Technical University of Athens). At the same time, he attended journalism courses, while he maintains strong ties with technology and the internet, a relationship that was strengthened at the Multimedia Laboratory of NTUA.

In 2001 he built and presented, together with a group of his colleagues, the first integrated website for the Prefecture of Trikala, 3kala.gr. 

Since 2002 he has been practicing the profession of Electrical and Computer Engineer in the city of Trikala. He was involved in studies and construction of private electromechanical projects and the creation of software programs. In 2007 he entered the field of renewable energy and has constructed more than 300 private renewable energy projects.

His involvement in the community began in 2002, with his election to the City Council. He was re-elected in 2006, and in 2014 he was elected Mayor of Trikkaion and member of the Board of Directors of KEDE. He was re-elected Mayor in 2019 and, in the same year, he was elected President of the KEDE.

He is married to the engineer Soula Brakis and is the happy father of Faye, Kostas and Nikos.

From June 2023, he is Minister of Digital Governance in the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Panos Kouvalis is COO (Chief Operating Officer) at Interamerican group of companies, participating actively as executive member to the Board of Directors, Audit and Risk Committee and Executive Committee of the Interamerican Group. He is responsible for the entire range of insurance propositions and operations in different lines of business, overseeing activities in Greece, Cyprus, and Romania.

He joined Interamerican in 2007 in the actuarial department and his career path includes leading roles in motor underwriting and retail product development. He played a key role in the transformation of Anytime in 2019 that supported the expansion of the successful model of Anytime outside Greece.

He is member of the motor committee of the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies since 2014.

He is a graduate of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens with a degree in Mathematics, while he holds a master’s degree (MSc) in Actuarial Science from City University of London.

 

 

Grigoris Konstantellos has been actively involved in local government since 1990 and has served as Mayor of Vari Voula Vouliagmeni since 2014, being re-elected in 2019 and again in 2023 with 72%. In March 2024, he was elected First Vice Chairman of the Central Union of Municipalities in Greece (KEDE). He holds a Commercial Pilot License, a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration and Finance from Panteion University, an MSc in Air Transport Management from City University London, and a PhD in ICT policy from the International School of Management in Paris. He has also completed postgraduate studies in Security Strategy at the National Defence School and Panteion University, as well as in Environmental, Disasters and Crisis Management at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
He was born in Voula in 1967, is married to Konstantina Giatsis, and has three children.

Paraskevi (Evi) Nomikou is a marine geologist who studies the morphology of underwater volcanoes with extensive experience in marine volcanic and seafloor extruding processes. She is a Professor at the Dep. of Geology and Geoenvironment of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece). She has participated in more than 80 oceanographic cruises that focused on submarine volcanism, mud volcanoes, landslides and slope stability and the exploration of seafloor mineral deposits. More recently, she has played a leading role in the evaluation of the potential hazards associated to the tectono-magmatic activity NE of Santorini volcano (Feb.2025). Her studies on underwater volcano areas where new earthquakes and deformations have been taking place are critical to the ongoing evaluation of future eruption scenarios. She is the PI of SANTORY (SANTORini seafloor’s observatorY», which monitors Kolumbo submarine volcano and provides solutions to understanding and mitigating future, potentially impacts of explosive volcanic eruptions. She effectively transfers her enthusiasm for sea floor exploration using innovative marine technologies to younger students through her educational lectures at the university, creating a high profile role model for young women thinking of pursuing careers in oceanography.

Dr. Emmanouel Rammos has more than 40 years’ experience in industry, international organisations and public functions. Started his career in PHILIPS– France, involved in pioneering work in satellite TV, including the invention of the world first commercial flat antennas.

As a Staff member in the European Space Agency (ESA) for 31 years, he held various engineering and management positions, managing multi-million industrial projects and facilities deployment and acting as contact to EC committees and Industry.

Has been involved in IPR licensing, technology transfer and industrialisation with major European industries, including consumer production in co-founded SMEs.

He co-founded SkyfloX, an ESA spinoff, developing a novel constellation concept using commercial aircraft as an alternative platform for Smallsat-like Payloads.

Has been instrumental in the development of satellite internet and coordinated at interministerial level the GNSS activities in Greece and was delegate in EU instances and in OECD.

Since March 2025 he is President of the Hellenic Space Center.

Holder of twenty-six patents, Emmanuel has been giving courses on satellite technology and business in Oxford University, in Toulouse Aerospace Polytechnic and the University of Athens. He studied Physics and Telecommunications Electronics in the University of Athens and obtained a master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Microwave and Electronics from the University “Pierre et Marie Curie” in Paris.

Konstantinos Semertzoglou has extensive experience in the insurance sector, having begun his career in the insurance industry in 1996 at Interamerican. From 2002 to 2010, he held successive positions of responsibility in the Commercial Department of Allianz Group in Greece and Eurolife FFH. In 2010, he was appointed Deputy General Manager of the newly established Eurolife Experience Center, and in 2016, he moved to Groupama Insurance as Commercial Director.

In 2023, he assumed the role of General Manager and Legal Representative of the Greek branch of HDI Global SE, with responsibilities covering Greece, the Balkan countries, and the Southeast Mediterranean.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies (EAEE) and has served for several years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Institute of Insurance Studies (EIAS).

Konstantinos Semertzoglou was born in Athens in 1966 and studied Physics at the Faculty of Science at the University of Ioannina. He also holds professional certification in Sales Management from Harvard Business School and ISM in the UK.

Dr Stefanakis is Associate Professor at the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Technical University of Crete, Greece and Director of the Laboratory of Environmental Engineering and Management. He is elected President of International Ecological Engineering Society and elected Chair of the ‘Wetlands for Water Pollution Control’ Specialist Group of the International Water Association. He is also European Climate Pact Ambassador appointed by the European Commission. He is graduate Environmental Engineer specializing in water engineering, specifically on nature-based solutions and ecological engineering in the circular economy. He is an internationally renowned expert on sustainable and decentralized water and wastewater treatment systems such as Constructed Wetlands, having implemented such facilities in more than 20 countries. His professional portfolio includes the world’s largest such facilities in Oman, Saudi Arabia and Brazil. Since 2020 he is included in the annual list of World’s Top 2% Scientists of Stanford University (USA), ranking in the top 0.1% in the scientific field of Environmental Engineering.

Dimosthenis works for Aon as Flood Research Lead for the EMEA, after senior flood modelling roles at RMS and Previsico. He has also been the Manager of the Weather Modelling Team at Lloyds Bank. He holds a Master in Water Resources Management from ETH Zurich and a Civil Engineering degree from the National Technical University of Athens.

Ioannis Chatzitheodosiou was born at Babalio Valtos of Aitoloakarnania (1963). He is of Greek Pontic origin. 

He studied Economics at the Higher Industrial School of Piraeus (University of Piraeus) and participated at the Board of Student Association. 

He started his professional career as Insurance Consultant at Nationale Nederlanden. He founded his own Agency “Insurances Chatzitheodosiou” (1990), transformed later as “MEGA Insurance Ltd”, (1998), and finally as MEGA BROKERS SA (2006). MEGA BROKERS SA is the largest Insurance brokerage company in Greece during the last 13 years. He is the President and the CEO till today. He has been elected as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Insurance Mediators of Greece (EADE). 

He was elected as Municipal Councilor and President of the Municipal Council of Agia Varvara in 1990, re-elected in 1994, while from 1993 to 1996 he was appointed as President of the Prefectural Hospital of West Attica (formerly Hospital for Infectious Diseases).

He was elected as Vice-President at the Union of Hellenic Chambers of Commerce in 2018, while from August 2021 till February 2022 he held the position of the President. 

He was elected as a Member of the Board of Directors at the Athens Chamber of Tradesmen in 2001, Secretary General from 2012 to 2014 and President from 2014 till today. He also served as General Secretary and President of the non Profit Company created by the Athens Chamber of Tradesmen named “Hermes”. 

He was appointed as Vice-President of the Organization for the Promotion of Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods (OPEMED), by Mr. P. Pikramenos, Vice-President of the Greek Government.

He is married with Mrs Chrysanthi Tsichli and has two children, Tasos and Ioanna.

Yannis Hatzis serves as President of the Board of Directors at the Hellenic Hotel Federation (HHF) and as First Vice President of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE).

He is the Executive Chairman of Blue Sea Resort Collection, a leading hospitality group based in Greece. The group owns and operates several hotels in Greece with a total capacity of 6,000 beds.

Mr. Hatzis graduated (B.Sc.) from the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) in 2008 and went on to pursue postgraduate studies (M.Sc.) at the London School of Economics (LSE). In 2016, he was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
